Doors Open Toronto announces 2017 theme honouring Canada's sesquicentennial

The 18th annual Doors Open Toronto presented by Great Gulf returns on May 27 and 26. In honour of Canada's 150th birthday, the theme is "15 Decades of Canadian Architecture."

Doors Open Toronto will feature 150 buildings representing each decade since the 1860s, as well as a collection of buildings from the pre-Confederation era. The theme shines light on the evolution of Canadian architecture, with a special focus on Centennial-period buildings and architects from the 1960s.

City of Toronto's holiday activities and services

The City of Toronto encourages residents and visitors to take advantage of City programs and attractions offered during the year-end holiday period. Most City of Toronto operations and all municipal offices will be closed on Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27, as well as Monday, January 2. City services that regularly operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week such as 311 Toronto and emergency services will be available. Information about curbside waste collection is provided later in this news release.

Winterlicious announces new sponsor and launches ticket sales for Toronto culinary series today

The City of Toronto welcomes YP Dine as the new presenting sponsor for Winterlicious and Summerlicious – Toronto's favourite culinary celebrations – and officially kicks off Winterlicious 2017 with tickets for the Culinary Event Series on sale today. The program runs from January 27 to February 9, 2017 and features both the Culinary Event Series and Prix Fixe Promotion.

2016 Compost Giveaway & Environment Day

Once again, this year I will be hosting a number of FREE community compost days around the entire Ward.   For you convenience, simply click on any GREEN (1 to 11) circle on the interactive map below to see when compost will be in or close to your area.  A complete list of dates and locations can be found here

It's an excellent way to encourage composting, set a good example, and green the neighbourhood.  The compost is purchased by my office and provided for FREE to constituents of Ward 17.  The Community Environment Day will be June 25, 2016 at Loretto College School parking lot - 151 Rosemount Avenue from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
