Residents invited to join discussion about Toronto’s 2017 budget

The City of Toronto's Budget Committee will hear public presentations on the preliminary 2017 tax supported budgets next week. Members of the public can make a presentation at sub-committee meetings on January 5, 9 or 10 at locations across the city. Two sessions will be held at each of the six locations listed below.

City of Toronto's holiday activities and services

The City of Toronto encourages residents and visitors to take advantage of City programs and attractions offered during the year-end holiday period. Most City of Toronto operations and all municipal offices will be closed on Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27, as well as Monday, January 2. City services that regularly operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week such as 311 Toronto and emergency services will be available. Information about curbside waste collection is provided later in this news release.

Winterlicious announces new sponsor and launches ticket sales for Toronto culinary series today

The City of Toronto welcomes YP Dine as the new presenting sponsor for Winterlicious and Summerlicious – Toronto's favourite culinary celebrations – and officially kicks off Winterlicious 2017 with tickets for the Culinary Event Series on sale today. The program runs from January 27 to February 9, 2017 and features both the Culinary Event Series and Prix Fixe Promotion.

Walk Off The Earth to headline Toronto's New Year's Eve celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square

The City of Toronto has released the program for New Year's Eve at Nathan Phillips Square today, with Walk Off The Earth confirmed to headline the event on December 31. New Year's Eve is the kickoff to the City of Toronto's "TO Canada with Love" year-long program of celebrations, commemorations and exhibitions honouring Canada's 150th birthday.

Toronto Public Service exceeds its United Way fundraising goal

The City of Toronto announced another record fundraising total of $1.65 million in support of United Way Toronto & York Region at an event held today at The 519 community centre. City employees surpassed their annual campaign fundraising goal, set at $1.35 million for 2016, for the 16th consecutive year. This year's total represents the highest amount ever raised by the Toronto Public Service and is a four percent increase over the previous record total of $1.58 million established in 2015.
