City of Toronto Press Conference - Ecuadorian Earthquake

On Saturday, the 7.8-magnitude quake struck off Ecuador's Pacific coast, 170 kilometers northwest of the nation’s capital, Quito. Hundreds of casualties, thousands injured, tens of thousands homeless –leaving behind massive destruction on what was known as the most beautiful beaches along “La Ruta Del Sol” … death and destruction dominates the scenery along costal cities of  Manta, Portoviejo, Pedernales. Quito the nation's capital and Guayaquil the country’s main port didn’t escape the shadow of death.

2016 Compost Giveaway & Environment Day

Once again, this year I will be hosting a number of FREE community compost days around the entire Ward.   For you convenience, simply click on any GREEN (1 to 11) circle on the interactive map below to see when compost will be in or close to your area.  A complete list of dates and locations can be found here

It's an excellent way to encourage composting, set a good example, and green the neighbourhood.  The compost is purchased by my office and provided for FREE to constituents of Ward 17.  The Community Environment Day will be June 25, 2016 at Loretto College School parking lot - 151 Rosemount Avenue from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Golf season kicks off at City of Toronto courses

It's tee-off time at City of Toronto golf courses. All five courses open tomorrow, Friday, April 15, weather permitting, and offer early bird rates. Located on beautiful parklands, Toronto's courses are all affordable, high quality and TTC-accessible. 

Open to golfers of all skill levels, each of the five courses has its own unique characteristics and offer something for everyone.

A series of meetings are scheduled to provide additional information on the City's process and to receive input from the public on the recommendations. Senator Art Eggleton, Task Force Chair, will attend the first meeting on Monday night in Scarborough.

City of Toronto announces 2016 Clean Toronto Together campaign

The City of Toronto today announced the launch of its 2016 Clean Toronto Together campaign. Each year, tens of thousands of Toronto residents along with schools, businesses and community groups take part in the spring cleanup to help keep the city clean and green.

Clean Toronto Together is a month-long litter removal program that includes City divisions cleaning streets, parks and watercourses, culminating during the April 22-24 weekend, when more than 1,000 community-led cleanups will take place in public spaces across the city.
