Walk Off The Earth to headline Toronto's New Year's Eve celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square

The City of Toronto has released the program for New Year's Eve at Nathan Phillips Square today, with Walk Off The Earth confirmed to headline the event on December 31. New Year's Eve is the kickoff to the City of Toronto's "TO Canada with Love" year-long program of celebrations, commemorations and exhibitions honouring Canada's 150th birthday.

Extreme Cold Weather Alert – seek shelter, check on loved ones

Based on information from Environment Canada, Dr. Barbara Yaffe, Toronto's Acting Medical Officer of Health, has issued an Extreme Cold Weather Alert today for Toronto that will be in effect until further notice. Extreme Cold Weather Alerts are issued when the temperature is forecast to reach -15ºC or colder, or when the wind chill is forecast to reach -20 or colder.

Toronto Public Service exceeds its United Way fundraising goal

The City of Toronto announced another record fundraising total of $1.65 million in support of United Way Toronto & York Region at an event held today at The 519 community centre. City employees surpassed their annual campaign fundraising goal, set at $1.35 million for 2016, for the 16th consecutive year. This year's total represents the highest amount ever raised by the Toronto Public Service and is a four percent increase over the previous record total of $1.58 million established in 2015.

The City of Toronto is hosting four public consultation meetings from December 5 to 8, in addition to an online survey that is available from December 5 to 23, to gather the public's input on how the City can manage expenses, raise revenue and optimize its assets as part of the development of its Long-Term Financial Plan.
