Registration for the City of Toronto's summer swim and skate programs begins this weekend on Saturday, June 4 at 7 a.m.

Programs fill quickly, so residents are advised to be ready to register at 7 a.m. and have a few backup choices in case their preferred program is already full.

The 17th annual Doors Open Toronto, presented by Great Gulf, returns this weekend, May 28 and 29, offering free and rare access to more than 130 architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings across the city. The event includes 40 new participants this year, walking tours, talks and other special programming.

Registration opens June 4 for Toronto summer swim and skate programs and after school recreation care

Registration for summer City of Toronto community recreation programs including summer swim and skate programs, and after school recreation care (ARC) for the coming school year (starting in September), will begin at 7 a.m. on June 4 across the city – the Etobicoke/York, Scarborough, North York and Toronto/East York recreation districts.

City of Toronto's long-weekend activities include fireworks at Ashbridges Bay Park on Victoria Day

The City of Toronto will offer a wide variety of activities for residents on Monday, May 23, including the annual Victoria Day fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay. Many family attractions, including two farms, two historic sites and other facilities will be open, however City-operated recreation centres will be closed and recreation programs will not operate that day.

The City of Toronto will host Victoria Day fireworks at Ashbridges Bay Park starting at 10 p.m. on May 23. The show will feature about 2,000 fireworks, with a spectacular finale.

As warmer weather arrives, Toronto Public Health is reminding residents to protect themselves against blacklegged tick bites and Lyme disease. The blacklegged tick (Ixodes scapularis) is the only type of tick in Ontario that can transmit the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.

Toronto Animal Services launches mobile spay and neuter services for dogs and cats

Toronto Animal Services' Mobile Spay/Neuter Your Pet (SNYP) Clinic will be rolling into neighbourhood improvement areas throughout the city to provide spay and neuter services for dogs and cats. Residents with an income of less than $50,000 will qualify for subsidized or waived fee.
