Spring Report
2008
Dear Friends,
Spring has sprung and there are lots of exciting events and opportunities
to help make our environment and community more healthy, enjoyable and
green. In keeping with my commitment to keep you updated on events at
City Hall and in the community, I am pleased to provide you with this
Spring Report, which I hope that you will find informative.
I am happy to be hosting a 2008 Environment Day and several Community
Clean-up Day events. Please see inside for details. I also hope that
during this Spring season you will take the time to report any Spring
litter or potholes to my office, so that I can have the problem fixed.
We all have to do our part in order to make Toronto cleaner, greener
and a healthier place to live.
So far 2008 has been another busy and challenging year at City Hall.
I will continue to push for more transparency and accountability at
City Hall, and push for more efficient City services, while opposing
new taxes and tax increases (such as TTC fare increases, community centre
fees, land transfer taxes and property taxes) . A recent report of the
Mayor’s Fiscal Review Panel made many recommendations as to how
the City can find hundreds of millions of dollars of efficiencies within
its current operations, without affecting services. I plan to aggressively
pursue the implementation of these recommendations.
With so much more to do, I look forward to continue to serving you.
Together we can create a safe, clean and healthy environment for citizens
of Davenport to live, work, and play. As always, I am only a phone call
or email away.
